Computers & HTML5 Coding

The school has a fully equipped computer lab. The pupils from senior infants have a weekly computer class with our specialised teacher Susanna Braswell.  Students are taught the fundamentals of applications like Word, Excel and Powerpoint. They also learn to edit sound files, photos and videos. In addition fifth-class students have an extra weekly 45-minute session where they learn the fundamentals of HTML5 and CSS3 so that they can build their own web sites. Click on this link if you would like to see some of their work.

The computer lab is always busy as this room is an extension of their classrooms. The children enjoy writing stories and poems, doing projects and research work. Each child has their folder where they save their work.

The school also uses Apple iPads to further develop students’ creativity. The iPads integrate very effectively with the Montessori ethos of independent learning. We have carefully selected the apps that children can access to complement the curriculum and Montessori equipment used in each class. Our younger students are already writing and illustrating their own iBooks, while the senior classes are making iMovies, stop-motion animation and use the iPads to present their projects.
